작가는 병원 같은 곳에서 장애인의 몸을 어떻게 검사하고, 연구해야 하는 몸처럼 다루는지 살펴본다. 그리고 장애인의 몸이 성적으로 다뤄지는 방식과 이유를 연구한다.

〈닫힌 시스템¹시스템: 정해진 방법으로 여러 가지 것들이 움직이는 일.〉은 몸이 서로 다른 약물에 기대게 되는 상태를 표현한 모형 작품이다. 둥그렇게 놓인 여러 개의 집 모형으로 이루어진다. 이 집들을 연결하고 있는 관을 통해 빨간색과 파란색 물이 움직인다. 각 집의 지붕 위에는 약물들의 이름이 적혀 있다.

〈사물 욕망〉과 〈(약해짐이) 쓸모 있도록〉은 다리 보조기로 만들어진 작품이다. 다리 보조기는 두 다리가 묶인 채 성적인 자세를 하고 있다. 이 작품은 몸이 묶인 것 같은 장애인의 상황을 표현한다. 그리고 즐거움을 느끼고 원하는 대로 움직일 수 있는 몸을 떠올리게 한다.

Panteha Abareshi (b. 1999) focuses on the chronically ill and disabled body, examining how such bodies are medicalized and scrutinized within clinical environments—as if objects of research rather than autonomous beings. She explores how disabled bodies are fetishized and sexually consumed, investigating the cultural logics that produce such dynamics.

Closed System¹System: A set of elements operating together in a defined way. features a circular arrangement of house-like models connected by clear tubing through which red and blue fluids circulate. Each roof is labeled with the name of a different pharmaceutical, illustrating the body’s ongoing dependence on medication and the cyclical nature of biomedical control.

Object Desire and Making Useful (of Decay) are sculptures made from leg braces positioned in suggestively sexual configurations. At first glance, they appear to reflect the immobilization and constraint often associated with disability. Yet the postures also evoke pleasure and agency, challenging normative assumptions of passivity. Abareshi reclaims the disabled body as a site of complex desire, resilience, and self-determination.
